Group Rides

Welcome to the Newmarket Eagles Cycling Club Group Ride page.

We have several group rides per week during most of the year, all with a slightly different emphasis in an attempt to cater to most levels of rider, we hope you’ll join us and share our love of riding!

If you are new to group riding come to the Tuesday night ride where in May and June group riding skills will be offered

Most of our group rides meet at the Riverwalk Commons parking lot (Doug Duncan Drive), north of Timothy Street, Newmarket.

Groups are usually organized by speed and distance. See below to determine which group is best for you. Our rides are usually 2 to 4 hours long and usually end with a visit to a local coffee shop.

We attempt to have all of our groups lead by a designated Group Ride Leader who will determine the route and ensure the rides are safe and fun for everyone.

Group A

‘A’ groups are the fastest and longest approximately 90-110km at an average speed in the low 30s kph. It is ideal for riders looking for a fast-paced and hard ride.

Depending on the number of riders, this group may split into two. Our goal is to have groups of 8 to 10 compatible riders.

This group sticks together and stops for flats or mechanicals and ensures no rider gets left behind.

Group B / B+

Group B is the intermediate group.  Rides are usually 60-80km in length at an average speed in the high 20s kph.

Group B+ is a slightly faster version of Group B, often following the same route.

Depending on the number of riders, this group may split into two. Our goal is to have groups of 8 to 10 compatible riders.

This group sticks together and stops for flats or mechanicals and ensures no rider gets left behind.

Group C

Group ‘C’ is the slowest and usually rides about 60km at an average in the low 20s kph. If you are new to group rides then you should consider coming to our Tuesday Evening Group ride prior to joining our weekend rides.
