A wide range of group rides to suit all levels of riders
Group Rides Info
We offer several group rides per week highlighted below, all with a slightly different emphasis in an attempt to cater to most levels of rider.
If you are new to group riding, come to the Tuesday night ride where in May and June group riding skills will be offered. There will also be three special skills training rides in Spring for (mostly) new members.
Most of our group rides meet at the Riverwalk Commons parking lot (Doug Duncan Drive), north of Timothy Street, Newmarket.
Groups are usually organized by speed and distance. See below to determine which group is best for you. Our rides are usually 2 to 4 hours long and usually end with a visit to a local coffee shop.
We intend to have all groups lead by a designated Group Ride Leader who will describe the route and ensure the rides are safe and fun for everyone.
Each group stays together, stops for flats or mechanicals, and ensures no rider gets left behind.
Depending on the number of riders, a group may split into two. Our goal is to have groups of 8 to 12 compatible riders.
Group A
‘A’ groups are the fastest and longest approximately 90-110km at an average speed in the low 30s kph. It is ideal for riders looking for a fast-paced and hard ride.
Group B/B+
Group 'B' is the intermediate group. Rides are usually 70-90km in length at an average speed in the mid-to-high 20s kph.
Group B+ is a slightly faster version of Group B, often following a similar but slightly longer route.
Group C & "Easy Riders"
Group ‘C’ usually rides about 60km at an average in the low 20s kph.
New for 2026: "Easy Riders" on Saturdays will be a slower version of the C group.
If you are new to group rides, start with C or Easy Riders, or join a Tuesday Evening Group ride for orientation.
