NEWMARKET YOUTH RACE 2008 - MAP - PROMO VIDEO
TIME TRIAL and ROAD RACE - Saturday, June 14, 9:00 a.m.
Open to boys and girls ages 10 to 16 (birth years 1992 to 1998).
REGISTRATION
Pre-registration only at the Ontario Cycling Association web site (ontariocycling.org) beginning three weeks prior to the event.
Cost $20 - OCA License or Citizen Permit required. (Citizen permits available on race day)
Registration desk is at the North Union Community Centre at the corner of Catering and Boag Rds.

SCHEDULE
Sign-in opens at 8 am and closes 20 min before your event.
CLASSIFICATION - Age Guidelines - TT dist. & start time - Race dist. & start time
CADET - Boys, 15-16 (1991-1992), 4.3 kms - 10:00 AM, 34.4 kms (8 Laps) 11:30 AM
CADET - Girls, 15-16 (1991-1992), 4.3 kms - 10:00 AM, 30.1 kms (7 Laps) 11:31 AM
MINIME - Boys, 13-14 (1993-1994), 4.3 kms - 10:00 AM, 25.8 kms (6 Laps) 11:33 AM
MINIME - Girls, 13-14 (1993-1994), 4.3 kms - 10:00 AM, 21.5 kms (5 Laps) 11:34 AM
PEWEE - Boys, 11-12 (1995-1996), 3.0 kms - 9:30 AM, 12.9 kms (3 Laps) 10:45 AM
PEWEE - Girls, 11-12 (1995-1996), 3.0 kms - 9:30 AM, 12.9 kms (3 Laps) 10:46 AM
SQUIRT - Boys, 10 (1997), 3.0 kms - 9:30 AM, 8.6 kms (2 Laps) 10:48 AM
SQUIRT - Girls, 10 (1997), 3.0 kms - 9:30 AM, 8.6 kms (2 Laps) 10:49 AM
EVENTS
Time Trial • Ages 10 to 12 will do 3.0 kms, out and back on a flat road. • Ages 13 to 16 will do 4.3 kms, one loop of a course with gradual hills.
Road Race
Distances from 9 kms to 34 kms on a 4.3 km course. Same course as the long TT - mainly flat with no steep hills.
AWARDS
• Awards will be based upon total points from both events. Participants do not have to complete both events to be eligible.
• Medals for top three in each category plus various draw prizes.
• Points per event, 1st - 20, 2nd - 19, 3rd - 18, etc.
• Ties will be broken by the highest placing in the road race.
MEDICAL
Certified first aid and police personnel will be on site.
RULES • Helmets are mandatory.
• Mountain bikes are permitted.
• No Time Trial bikes, aero bars or other time trial equipment will be allowed in either event.
• Bikes may be subject to a safety inspection and unsafe bikes will not be permitted.
• The race will be governed by the rules of the Ontario Cycling Association for Citizen's events.
• Traffic will be restricted and there will be police and marshals. However, there are residences on the course and it will be impossible to ensure that roads will be completely traffic free. Racers must use due caution.
• All riders will be permitted to complete their event and be given a placing.
PARKING
Parking is on Boag Rd east of Woodbine Ave or at the Community Centre on Boag Rd. near Catering Rd. Please access via Woodbine Ave.
TOILETS
The Community Centre on Boag Rd has toilet facilities.
JUNIOR EAGLES ROAD RACE TRAINING CAMP 2008
Introduction to Road Bicycle Racing Skills
The Newmarket Eagles Cycling Club once again will be holding the Youth Learn to Road Race program. This will take place every Monday for 12 weeks at 6:30 pm at two locations.
First 6 sessions will be at the St. Elizabeth Seton Church parking lot at 17955 Leslie Street, Newmarket (north of Davis Drive, east side of Leslie).
The last 6 sessions will be on the road sessions, meeting at the NW Corner of Woodbine Ave and St Johns Side Road at (York Region Roads Operations Facility).
Basic skills such as safety, bike set-up, bike handling, racing strategies and training techniques will be covered.
This is a perfect opportunity for boys and girls 11-18 to learn about the sport of bicycle racing in a safe environment from instructors who have had many years of racing experience.
The only equipment required is a Road Bicycle (Preferred) or MTB Bicycle and an approved Helmet.
A $70 registration fee includes: 12 Monday evening sessions, a Newmarket Eagles club jersey, club membership and insurance. Pre Registration Only / Space is Limited.
Start date is May 5th.
